Q: How do I schedule an appointment?

A: Simply call our office to schedule an appointment or book online via ZocDoc. You can fill out our patient intake forms in advance on our website or via ZocDoc.

Q: Do I need a physician’s prescription for physical therapy?

A: Yes. However, if your condition doesn’t require physical therapy or if you need to tweak your fitness program, we also offer professional training sessions. An exercise physiologist will assist you in customizing your workout in order to meet your goals. Simply contact us for a recommendation.

Q: Do you accept my health insurance?

A: We’re a private pay facility and bill out-of-network benefits. Typical out-of-network benefits range from 60-80% reimbursement, which can be implemented once your deductible has been met.

Q: I don’t have any out-of-network benefits. Is it possible to still be treated at PACT?

A: Absolutely. Our priority at PACT is to accommodate our patients, so we’ll devise a plan that works for you. We offer competitive rates for patients who pay out-of-pocket for treatment sessions.

Q: Why is PACT physical therapy an out-of-network provider? Isn’t it cheaper for me to see a therapist in my network?

A: We’re an out-of-network provider in order to maintain quality care and flexible offerings. At PACT, you work one-on-one with a highly skilled and licensed physical therapist dedicated to helping you reach your goals. You have your therapist’s undivided attention for 30 minutes, followed by an additional 30 minutes with an exercise physiologist to guide you through your exercise program.

Q: If I’m confident in my exercise regimen, can I schedule an appointment for a sports massage?

A: Yes. We offer therapeutic massage, program critiques, athletic taping, and performance analysis appointments.

Q: How long is the treatment session and how frequently should I attend?

A: Each session lasts for an hour, split between 30 minutes one-on-one with your physical therapist and 30 minutes of directed exercise prescription with an exercise physiologist. We do not charge for modalities, which include electrical stimulation, ice, and heat, and are administered at the end of treatment if needed.

Frequency is determined by your needs following your evaluation, but typical treatment plans require 2-3 visits per week and range from 6-12 weeks, along with regular assessment and potential follow-ups with your physician.

Q: What should I bring to my first session?

A: Be sure to bring everything that could help determine your individual plan of care, including:

  • Insurance verification

  • Prescription or referral from your physician

  • List of current medications

  • Imaging (MRIs or x-rays)

Comfortable, loose-fitting clothing and a pair of rubber-soled sneakers.

Q: What should I expect on my first visit?

A: One of our physical therapists will fully evaluate and assess your injury, pinpointing the best plan of care for your needs. We’ll incorporate manual therapy, including soft tissue work and joint mobilization, functional mobility training, education, and exercise prescription.

Q: How will I be treated?

A: Depending on your condition and treatment plan, we will utilize a multitude of treatments including, but not limited to, soft-tissue mobilization, sports massage, deep-tissue massage, joint mobilization, myofascial release, instrument assisted soft tissue mobilization (IASTM), functional mobility training, therapeutic exercise, strength training, manual stretching, activity modulation, as well as modalities like electrical stimulation, ultrasound, cryotherapy and thermotherapy.

Q: What treatments do you use?

A: Depending on your condition and treatment plan, we’ll use a variety of treatments such as:

  • Soft-tissue mobilization

  • Sports massage

  • Deep tissue massage

  • Joint mobilization

  • Myofascial release

  • Graston technique (IASTM)

Q: How is my progress measured?

A: We’ll measure your progress through functional outcome measures, which allow us to put a numeric value to your activities, movement and pain level and compare it to your initial evaluation. Progress is also personal, and can be determined by the goals you set and the improvement you see.

Q: Will I need follow-up or maintenance care?

A: A physical therapist will work with you after your evaluation to determine the most appropriate plan of care, including frequency and duration of treatment.

Q: Should I consult my doctor about physical therapy?

A: Yes. We work with your physician to determine the most appropriate plan of care. We want you to succeed, and a multifaceted approach to treatment can help in your recovery. We are also trained in differential diagnosis, meaning we can determine if your needs are appropriate for physical therapy or if you require treatment beyond our scope.

Q: Why should I choose physical therapy?

A: Physical therapy has been proven to help people eliminate pain, restore function, improve mobility, surpass goals, and reach new levels of health. Our team of injury prevention specialists is fully dedicated to helping you rebuild your body.

Q: What is my responsibility in physical therapy?

A: Patients who are engaged and actively learning throughout the treatment process experience the best outcomes, so we encourage you to ask questions throughout your treatment. We aim to provide you with the information and training you need to incorporate physical therapy exercises into your daily routine. Ultimately, the more you put into your recovery, the more you get out of it.

Q: What office policies should I be aware of?

A: We ask the following of our patients:

  • If you need to reschedule an appointment, please call us at 646.290.6488. Please cancel your appointment at least 24 hours in advance, or you will be charged a late cancellation fee of $50.

  • Payment is due at time of service.

  • If you will be late, please call in advance. We will do our best to try to accommodate you, but cannot guarantee a full session.

  • Missed appointments are discouraged, and they become part of your medical record. Multiple missed visits may result in discharge from care.

We provide progress reports to your physician upon request.
